Question 1: Is it possible for External Year 11 students to apply to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form?
Yes. the Academy accepts applications from external candidates, currently in Year 11 at another school.
Question 2: How do you submit an on-line application to the Sixth Form for Ashmole Academy?
Candidates need to register in order to create an application form. If you do not register before 30th January 2023 via the application portal, you will not have an application form.
Question 3: Do Internal Year 11 Ashmole Academy students transfer automatically to Sixth Form?
No. Year 11 students, currently on roll at the Academy must submit an Internal Sixth Form Application by the closing date of Monday 30th January 2023. The minimum entry criteria for internal and external students is set out in the Ashmole Academy Sixth Form Policy 2023 and the Sixth Form Prospectus 2023. Copies of these documents are available on the school website now.
Question 4: Is there a minimum entry criteria for entry to Ashmole Academy Sixth Form
Yes. The criteria for application to study A-level at Ashmole Academy Sixth Form is based on minimum predicted GCSE grades and subsequent final GCSE grades in August 2023. The GCSE entry criteria is outlined on Page 6 -7 of the Sixth Form Prospectus and set out in the Ashmole Academy Admission Policy 2023.
Question 5: How do I provide my predicted GCSE grades?
External students are required to input their GCSE grade predictions on their on-line application form within the section of the form entitled ‘Education’. Ashmole Academy will verify your predicted GCSE grades automatically by email from your named referee indicated on your application form. You will be informed when the reference has been returned to Ashmole Academy. Internal students are not required to enter their grades as the Academy already have this data.
Question 6: The application form will only let me choose 3 A-level subjects but I would like to study a 4th A-level subject – how can I request this?
Requests to study a 4th A-level can be discussed in August 2023 if you choose to pursue any provisional offer of a place to study at the Academy.
Question 7: When I complete the online application form, how do I know my application has been received?
Once your application form is submitted back to the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt of your application will be sent to the email address used for registration. You can also check the status of your application through your on-line application account which updates automatically.
Question 8: Will Ashmole Academy chase my school for my academic reference?
No. It is the responsibility of the student or parent to ensure the academic reference is completed by the current school of the candidate. Once the reference is received by the Academy, an automated email confirming receipt will be sent to the applicant and parent. The status of the application can be checked via the on-line account.
Question 9: I missed the closing date for Sixth Form application, can I still apply?
Yes. Ashmole Academy will accept late applications for a short time after the January closing date and potentially again on Enrolment Day if the school is not oversubscribed with candidates who previously applied and are in receipt of a conditional offer. Late applications will not be considered until after those received on or before the closing date.
Question 10: My application is complete but I would like to change my A-level subject choices.
First you need to check if you will potentially meet the minimum grade criteria for the subject you wish to change to. Subject changes will be received by email only for a short time after you have received a response to your application.
Question 11: When is a response to the application sent?
You will receive a response letter by email before or by March 2023.
Question 12: Can I request a prospectus from the school?
The Sixth Form Prospectus 2023 is available on the school website alongside the Post 16 Subject Information Booklet 2023 and copies will be made available at the Sixth Form Open Evening.
